Chiesa di Sant'Antonio

The convent of the Capuchin Poor Clares was founded by Duchess Eleonora Orsini, wife of Alessandro Sforza of Santa Fiora and niece of the Queen of France Maria de’ Medici. It housed an abbess and eleven nuns, followers of the Sienese mystic Passitea Crogi. According to the papal approval bull of 1619, each nun had to bring a dowry of 200 écu coins to her entrance, but the convent also hosted four local young girls with no dowry. The convent was suppressed in 1810 and refounded at the current sanctuary of the Holy Crucifix in 1893.
